Sony D-VM1 Portable DVD / Video CD Walkman / Player. A Sony D-VM1 DVD Walkman in working order and fair condition. This machine was first released in 2001 and claims to be the Worlds first truly portable DVD player. It is rarely seen outside of Japan, and was very, very, expensive when new. Although the machine is in good condition with some minor marks, there are two rub-marks to the external clamshell rechargeable battery where it has been placed in & removed multiple times from a storage case (see first and second photos). The item is in working order and has been tested with both 4:3 and 16:9 formats. The screen is excellent with no dead pixels, lines, or other faults. The screen’s diminutive size makes standard definition DVDs look super-sharp. It is a sophisticated and well-engineered machine and will re-start a DVD at exactly the point where you previously stopped it (instead of starting from the beginning of a chapter). It is supplied with everything you can see in the photos. It is NOT supplied with a infra-red remote control or instructions (instructions can be downloaded). It is supplied with the screen shown in the photo which acts as a wired remote control. It is also supplied with the original earbuds. It is not supplied with the Wicker Man DVD shown! This item is nearly 20 years old so the battery life will be less than when new. Information about the original specifications is sparse but I found an old cached website showing it to be between 4 hours (monitor on) and 5 hours (monitor off). I played this and got somewhere between 3 and 3.5 hours using the display, so it looks like the battery is holding up quite well much better than iPhones Ive had that barely hold a charge after just 2 years! You can obviously use it while connected to mains electricity.
