Sony D-250 Discman – Audiophile Travel Set – Fully restored D-25

Sony D-250 Discman with travel case, original Sony AC-940 adapter, with fully restored BP-2 battery, with Sony anti-vibration plate, with 9V(6xAA) battery pack and with silicone plugs for when line-out and remote are not in use. Laser mechanism was disassembled and re-lubed, headphone coupling capacitors upgraded to 220uF audio-grade Nichicons, fresh electrolytics for the power, laser re-calibrated. D-25/D-250 is one of the best Discmans ever made, if you Google the reviews it stands its own against The King, D-555… Some say it is because of its 4x oversampling digital filter. Anti-vibration plate was recycled from Sony CPM-203P car mount plate. Nice equipment rack made my workhorse, Naim CDS3 player sound better, so I figured that doing the same for a Discman can not hurt. Unfortunately, BP-2 rechargeable battery does not last long, quickly discharges in Standby mode, dangerous in real life you should NEVER leave a charger plugged in overnight with BP-2 battery inside!! And that is why 9V, center-negative battery pack is included for your critical listening sessions. Just turn it OFF or unplug when not in use: Discman pulls 40mA in Standby mode and drains batteries in less than a week. Although not recommended because it stresses the player, this particular D-250 plays even 80+min CD-R. It tracks without problems skip-test CD (CD with 1mm scratch across the whole disc).
