Sony D-10 Discman – Complete Set – Fully restored D-100

Completely restored and re-calibrated Sony D-10 Discman. Includes soft case, Sony AC-930A adapter, and restored BP-100 battery. D-10 (born 1986) is the younger/slimmer brother to my all-time favorite Sony Discman, D-50 MkII (dob 1985, aka D-7). These are the only Sony Discmans with belt-drive CD platter, as in famous C. D-10 has the same DAC, PCM55 as its older brother, but unlike D-50 MkII it also has a digital filter. D-10 also has the best and the most powerful headphone amplifier found in a Discman: NJM4560 producing 30mWx2 into 30 Ohm! It was the ultimate authority in Discmans repair, Master Kaosun. Because of the digital filter and also probably because of a more reliable laser mechanism, D-10 sounds more polite, more hi-end than D-7. At the same time, by losing some of D-7 edginess it distances itself from my all-time-favorite’Naim Audio house sound. Question: does it sound better than D-Z555? I agree with Master Kaosun that it does! But nothing will change the fact that Sony D-555 remains and shall forever remain The King! Discman was fully disassembled, cleaned, re-lubed and re-calibrated. AC-930A adapter received fresh Nichcon FineGold smoothing capacitor.
